With the Smurfmobile in front of Grandma Phil's house in Ashton

July 1984
(Per Amy: "Gooch family reunion trip. I remember great controversy over whether at age 10 I should be allowed to bring " that huge raccoon" and hoping I could still squish my legs comfortably into the far back of the station wagon. I loved being able to curl up and sleep for long stretches of the trip. I also remember hitting my head on the speakers hanging from the top of the car. I don't remember too many details of the family reunion, mostly lots of smiling people in matching tee-shirts and being required to wear navy striped shirts. Each family had to do a skit or talent and we sang 'Geneology', a song now totally remade in the new Children's songbook. There as also a Gooch family softball game going on--I remember being amazed at GraceAnn's athletic enthusiasm. She didn't seem like a person who ran bases very often! It was fun to meet some of the people Mom had talked about in family stories and see Gooch cousins. Don't you love our leggy shorts? I am probably mistaken, but I hink I detect a hint of a tan!! I wonder how long it has been since my legs have seen the sun? Good times.")
